This is a 30-day version of the Happiness Habits 101 course that I offer at the Univ. of Alabama.

Learn a modern, scientific view of happiness (as a learned skillset).

Choose and build 3 happiness habits of your own.

 

My Story: Majoring in Happiness

 

I majored in Happiness.

 

Why? Because it’s life’s most important subject. Everything else we study is just so that we can make a living, serve others, or do what we love in order to be happy.

 

Happiness is what it’s all about.

 

The most important lesson I’ve learned is that success without happiness is failure. It’s the ultimate failure. What’s more, the surprising science of positive psychology says that success depends more upon happiness than happiness depends upon success.

 

I created my major – and my course at the Univ. of Alabama – with one goal in mind.

 

Being happier. 

 

It’s not about what it is, but how it is.  It’s about being it. And habits are the way to be.

 

Researchers estimate that 40-80% of what we do is habit. Habits are “legos” for our lives. Your habits are your happiness.

 

And in 1 month you’ll build your happiness habits – 1 day at a time.

Happiness means performance.

 

In the last 20 years there has been a revolution in understanding high performing leaders, creators, and organizations. The conventional idea that success causes happiness is obsolete. The consensus of modern psychology: happiness causes success.

 

Happy people are more creative, more engaged, and more successful (1). 

 

The same is true for businesses and organizations. Companies with happier employees outperform peers in share price (2) AND mental health programs return $4 for every $1 invested (3).

Program Schedule

Kickoff Live Stream Sunday April 10th at 7:45 PM EST

 

Week 1: Happiness and Habit Engineering (60 minute training)

Learn the science of happiness and create a habit change plan that actually works.

>>> Watch daily lesson every day (habit of showing up).

 

Week 2: Relationships and Positive Interactions

>>> Watch daily lesson and complete your relationships and positive interactions habit every day. (Ex. Send a thank you email.)

 

Week 3: Mind Training for Psychological Growth

>>> Watch daily lesson and complete your positive interaction and mind training habits every day. (Ex. Send a thank you email. + Meditate 10 minutes.)

 

Week 4: Health and Physical Energy

>>> Watch daily lesson and complete your positive interaction, mind training, and health habits every day. (Ex. Send a thank you email. + Meditate 10 minutes. + Drink 1L of water.)

 

Onward: Celebration and Next Steps (30 minutes)

 

Why give $30?

 

I’m asking for $1 a day for this program. I wanted to offer it for free. But I realized that’s the problem. If it’s free you won’t stick to it!

 

Here’s what I mean. It’s hard to build a new habit. There will be times in the next month where you think “I don’t wanna deal with this. But I already paid for it. So I guess I’ll just do it.”

 

That’s exactly what I want you to think! When you pay for something you’re committing future you to sticking with it.
